AN 18-year-old boy accused of stealing his father’s gun was on Monday charged and remanded to prison by City Magistrate Judy Latchman.
Chris Pollard of Durban Street, Lodge, denied that on January 28 at David Street, Kitty, he stole a .32 pistol valued $250,000 along with 10 rounds of matching ammunition worth $2,600, property of Peter Pollard.
According to the facts presented in court by Prosecutor Arwin Moore, the defendant is the adopted son of the victim.
On the day in question, the victim left his firearm in his bedroom under the pillow when, it is alleged, the accused stole the weapon. The teen confessed to stealing the firearm when questioned by his father.
The prosecutor objected to the teen being released on bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the charge and also because the accused is a repeat offender.
The magistrate remanded the teen until February 26.
