Man who attacked police shot twice

A MAN was shot twice after injuring a police rank who was responding to a report that he was beating his 60-year -old mother at Herstelling, East Bank Demerara.

Reports indicate that the 33- year-old unemployed man wounded the policeman about 02:30hrs Friday morning and was subsequently shot twice.

Both are currently receiving medical attention.
An investigation has so far revealed that a police patrol responded to a report of a son beating his 60-year-old mother.

The son, when confronted, armed himself with a cutlass and menacingly attacked and dealt the rank two chops on his left hand and left knee. The injured constable drew his service revolver and discharged two rounds which struck his attacker in the right arm and right collarbone. Investigations are in progress.
