HOST country Guyana, through the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), has shortlisted 18 male players and 11 female players who will begin preparation for the Caribbean Table Tennis Championship to be held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall from August 12 to 20 this year. Some of the countries expected to take part are Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Santo Domingo, St Kitts and St Lucia. GTTA president and Commissioner of Police, Henry Greene, DSS, DSM, said that by having all the players shortlisted together way before the start of the Championship, the coaching staff and the selection panel can properly make their assessment and select the best team to represent Guyana.
National table tennis coach Linden Johnson said that he will meet the players shortlisted this week in order to streamline the training and other details in preparation for the championship, with the following players being the ones shortlisted;
Males – Paul David, Idi Lewis, Christopher Franklin, Jonathan Sankar, Edinho Lewis, Paul Meusa, Orin Hickerson, Colin France, Joel Alleyne, Hughley Griffith, Nigel Bryan, Denzel Hopkinson, Brandon Belle, Brad Belle, Gibran Hussein-Safraz, Sherwin Sahadeo, Warren Hackshaw and Steven Barrow.
Females – Trenace Lowe, Michelle John, Natalie Cummings, Julianna Blake, Ambrose Thomas, Akeish Nedd, Desiree Lancaster, Chelsea Edghill, Mellissa Richardson, Adielle Rosheuvel and Rhonda Farley.
