-in yet another pirate attack
BERBICE sleuths are investigating another piracy attack committed two miles off the Adventure Coastline, in which a fisherman was robbed of a Yamaha outboard engine, two fuel tanks and a cellular phone totaling $823,000. Dilchand Dabidyal, age 40 years of Lot 262 Chesney Front , another Corentyne location, was in a motorised boat on Sunday, accompanied by another tradesman in the Atlantic Ocean, where they had anchored and ‘had dropped their seine’, when a smaller boat was observed approaching, and subsequently moored beside them.
According to Dabidyal who is employed by Mohan Carpen, a masked man armed with a gun dealt him several lashes about the body, before the remaining two who subsequently joined his vessel, removed the articles, leaving the traumatised men to drift for a day, after which a report was made at Whim Police Station.
Just last week convicted pirate Ram Sookdial alias Kevin Narine known as “Long hair “and Ayodhiaram, was sentenced to nine years imprisonment after a majority verdict by jury of his peers were returned, in favour of the state’s case. The prisoner has since given notice of his appeal. (Jeune Bailey Van-Keric)
