A 34-year-old Albouystown resident was on Monday remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman for the unlawful possession of a firearm.
David Austin denied that on December 1st at Hill Street, Albouystown, he had a .38 revolver in his possession when he was not a licensed firearm holder.
Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield objected to Austin being granted his pretrial liberty on the grounds of the seriousness of the charge.
According to Mansfield, on the day in question, the police on mobile patrol in Albouystown saw Austin sitting on a pushcart and acting in a suspicious manner.
The ranks conducted a search and a firearm was found in a black shoulder bag that the accused had in his possession.
The magistrate ruled in the prosecution’s favour and remanded Austin until December 11.
