GFA/Trix U-17 f/ball tourney
THE unbeaten Sunburst Camptown, along with Uprising and BK International Western Tigers, have advanced to the knock-out round of the Georgetown Football Association/Trix Under-17 football tournament, which is at a standstill at the moment because of the prevailing inclement weather. Camptown have registered the maximum nine points from their quota of three, while Uprising and Western Tigers have seven and six points respectively.

Uprising won two of their three matches and drew the other, while Western Tigers won two also but lost the other.

In results from the last round of matches, Western Tigers, led by a Daniel Spooner first-half double along with a Steffie Dickson double for Uprising, were the major highlights for their teams, en route to victories over Renaissance and Flamingo by a 5-0 and 3-0 margin respectively.

Playing at the Camptown ground, Spooner’s double (10th, 27th), in addition to one each from Randolph Wagner (5th), Nigel Fraser (20th) and Joshua Britton (32nd) accounted for the Tigers’ five winning goals which came within 27 minutes of the first half.

At the same venue, Sunburst Camptown, led by goals from Glenroy Griffith and Kevin Gravesande in the 3rd and 56th minutes respectively, accounted for their two goals, en route to a 2–1 win over Black Pearl, whose lone goal was netted by Raoul DeCruise in the 30th minute.

Over at the Tucville ground, Dickson’s double, (20th & 52nd) and Marco Marcus (2nd) were both on target for Uprising who led 2-0 at halftime.

While Kwame Harding, two minutes before the final whistle accounted for Pele’s lone goal for a 1-0 win over Riddim Squad, in the first of two group B matches, following a goalless first half.

Play in the competition is expected to resume shortly, depending upon the weather, which has left the two venues in a soggy state.
