`Police `arrest’ Beacons, Riddim Squad `shackles Black Pearl

—Riddim Squad’s Rolex Smith nets tournament’s first hat-trick

POLICE Football Club `arrested’ Beacons on Friday when play in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA)/Stag premier League continued at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC), ground, Bourda with a fourth round double-header that saw the lawmen winning by a 5-2 margin over Beacons.

In the opening game, Rolex Smith netted a hat-trick to `shackle’ Black Pearl, and helped Riddim Squad to a comfortable 4-0 win.
In the feature match, Rawle Haynes, Rawle Thornhill and Ganson Baker were on target for the police team in the 27th, 33rd and 40th minutes respectively, giving the lawmen a 3-0 lead at the interval.
Seven minutes into the second session, Kiriber Braithwaite, son of former national captain Gordon `Ultimate Warrior’ Braithwaite, pulled one back for Beacons, reducing the lead to 3-1, but five minutes later, Police’s Junior Gordon inked his name on the referee’s scorecard.

Eight minutes from regulation time (82nd min), Quacy McAulay found his target to extend the score to 4-1.
Then, during the first minute of injury time, Dwayne Jacobs sealed the issue for the lawmen for a 5-2 victory.
Police earned three points for the victory, their fourth consecutive, which carries them to 12 points and a goal difference of plus 12.

Beacons on the other hand remains on five points with a minus one goal difference.
In the opening game on Friday, Rolex Smith was on target in the 28th, 39th and 61st minutes and was supported by a 32nd minute conversion from his teammate Wendell Garnette.

The victory for Riddim Squad takes them to nine points with a minus three goal difference.
Black Pearl on the other hand remains on two points with a minus 11 goal difference.
The league continues today with a triple-header at the same venue.
The feature game from 20:00hrs brings together GFC and Pele, while the opening game from 16:00hrs, will see Camptown tackling Santos.
The second game is between Northern Rangers and Flamingo.
