ROOPCHAND Parsaram was sentenced to three months imprisonment yesterday, on conviction for using threatening language and assault. He pleaded guilty to the offences before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, admitting that, on May 23, he unlawfully assaulted and threatened Mohim Rahim.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the prisoner and the virtual complainant both reside at the Night Shelter in East La Penitence, Georgetown.
The prosecutor said, after Parsaram, who had been imprisoned before, slapped Rahim and issued the threat to chop off his head, the latter became fearful.
The previously convicted Parsaram begged the court, in vain, for mercy.
