Golden Jaguars to face Barbados on May 22 at Providence Stadium

… GFF names squad of 29; return game set for Barbados on May 29
THE Golden Jaguars will be in action against their rivals from the Land of the Flying Fish – Barbados – in the first game of a home and away two-game Goodwill series on Sunday, May 22, at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
According to Organising Secretary of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major, the games will be used to expose a number of players who will represent Guyana in the Olympic Under-23 qualifiers as well as the World Cup qualifying campaign.
“We are using a number of our young players who will be eligible for the Olympic campaign and at the same time the technical staff will also be having a look at them for World Cup action as well.
“Since the date is not a FIFA date, a number of our regular players, the likes of John Rodrigues, Gregory Richardson and Walter Moore among others, would not be able to get the time off to play but they are very much a part of the programme going forward.”
Twenty-nine players have been invited by the Technical Committee headed by GFF Technical Development Officer Lyndon France. The squad includes players based in the USA, England, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname and locally.
