What Mothers Day really means

THERE was a time when you couldn’t sleep without hearing your mother’s lullabies. There was a time when you preferred your mom’s company in everything than anyone else. There was a time when your world circled around her. May this Mothers Day be something more meaningful than just flowers and gifts. It is time for you to realise that there are more to your mother than those materialistic gifts that you bestow upon her for every Mothers Day. In the kind of world where you live, you forget the true value of motherhood and even the Mothers Day. Today, Mothers Day is considered more of a celebration than a day of reminiscence of one’s mother. The best gift any child can give its mother is to spare little time for your mother and pamper her on Mother’s Day as she did when you were a baby. It’s always better late than never to remember those beautiful days that you spent with her and say some prayers praising her deeds. Don’t be afraid of singing a little prayer and make her more proud of being your mother

To understand Mothers Day and what it really means, you need to understand the person in your life called ‘Mother’. God’s gift to a child is Mother. Mother is one who nurtures you in her womb for nine months and brings you forth to enjoy the supreme blessing on earth, that is, Life. Mother is one who guides you through your infancy and turns the soft, helpless creature to the powerful and successful YOU, so leave no stone unturned. She is the guardian angel protecting you and supporting you, feeling for you and serving you silently always with a smile on her face. She prides herself on watching you grow and provides you a shoulder to cry on whenever you need. She is every child’s best friend.

For a child, every single day should be a Mothers Day. The essence of the meaning of Mothers Day is in the fact that we should try and make this day every year a memorable one for your mother. She should cherish the special feeling of this day and the intensity of that feeling should last her the lifetime. This is the day to stop, remember, and pray for that special person in our lives, without whom we would not have been, what we are today; a day to prove that all her efforts, towards making us a complete person, have been worthwhile and make her feel proud for us. In the broader sense of the term, Mothers Day is a day to be grateful to God for being so kind as to bless us with an angel in the form of Mother.

Motherhood is the greatest blessing any woman can be blessed with. Motherhood is a symbol of love, kindness and forgiveness. A mother’s touch is the first human touch in a child’s life. A mother’s heart is filled with a never-exhausting love for her children. She lives and dies for them.  A mother is the most beautiful woman in the child’s eyes. It is a mother’s love, pure and unadulterated, which nourishes a child and helps him to see and understand the cruel and the harsh world where he is destined to spend the rest of his life. Only a mother knows how it feels to be a mother.

Mothers shoulder a huge responsibility of instilling the good and the bad in her child’s heart. Being a mother is tough. A mother’s every action and word is under the deepest scrutiny and therefore she is always over cautious of her conduct. Give mother the rose to smell when she is alive, not when she is gone.

A child is carried in a mother’s womb for 9 months before he/she is blessed with the light of the world. To every child his/her mother is the most perfect creature on earth, the loveliest and the most infallible. It is not always  easy to be a role-model mother. There are no hard and fast written rules to be the ideal mother or the ideal parent. The most important tip would be to understand the responsibility of instilling the best values in her child’s mind and bring the child up to be a confident, happy and good human being.

An ideal mother is one who inculcates the best of family values in her children. She also has tons of patience to put up with the childish tantrums and makes the child feel satisfied and happy without being over-indulgent. She is usually a mixture of the toughness of granite and softness of blossoms, the sharpness of razor and the coolness of mountain streams, the calmness of still water and the purity of untrodden snow. She is the child’s best friend. She is there for the child through every thick and thin. In one word, she is the light of her child’s life. All mothers should aspire to be  role-model mothers to their children.

As mothers think that children are gifts from god, to children also mothers are the sweetest gift from God. As people get busy in the every day mundane things of life, you tend to forget the little precious moments that form the very core of relationships. They become routine and are taken for granted until it becomes too late. When a child goes out, a mother feels a part of her heart secluded from her. Such is the love and power of a mother. Well, no words are enough to thank her for the sacrifice and hardships she endures to make you a person, a small gesture of few words of love and gratitude is enough to make her heart melt. So why not celebrate this mother’s day by wishing her, greeting her, and making her feel how important and special she is.
