There has been definite progress during the past decade

THE President is right to remind us of where we were in 1992 and where we are now in 2011. Without going into the rights and wrongs by the various parties, there has been definite progress over the last 10 years. It is not only dishonest but counter productive for the opposition to deny otherwise. It was pointed out that most governments are faced with the trade-off between immediate consumption benefits to the citizenry on one hand, and longer term investment functions on the other. The government seemed to have tried to do both with a limited infrastructure, and financial and human professional resources.  This was being done during a global economic meltdown. Political parties must demonstrate to voters what programmes they have that would serve Guyana better, while faced with limited infrastructure, financial and human professional resources, and insufficient foreign investments needed to develop our natural resources.  The opposition must propose, support and amend GoG policies, and not simply oppose them, if the nation is to judge them competent. Just saying.
