Prime Minister Samuel Hinds and Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) Indranauth Haralsingh, who represented Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Manniram Prashad, Friday evening joined hundreds of Guyanese in Linden for the annual exposition and Creole Night held in Wismar. The event was a collaborative effort among the Linden Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Development (LCICD), the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, under which the GTA falls, and the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-INVEST).
Haralsingh told the Government Information Agency (GINA) that the expo has truly become an excellent platform, in that it not only showcases manufacturers in Linden, but also what Guyana’s business community has to offer to the Caribbean and more so the world.
“The Ministry of Tourism is very committed to development, whether in Berbice, Georgetown or Linden…so the ministry this year, like previous years, pledged its full support to the expo,” Haralsingh said.
He noted also that LCICD has expanded the town week, accommodating more activities inclusive of the Expo and Creole Night in Wismar, and will help to generate more income in the town.
He urged that more activities of the same nature be replicated in other parts of the country.
“This will surely help to inject more life into the communities in Linden, more people will come out to visit and see what Linden is producing, apart from its traditional bauxite,” he told GINA.
He also used the opportunity to commend LCICD for initiating the activity and expressed satisfaction with the overwhelming participation and special interest shown by exhibitors and investors at the first night of the exposition.
The Chamber represents, promotes, and advocates the interests of businesses in Linden. Its mission is to promote and support the general economic and social development of the community.
The expo was held at the Egbert Benjamin Exhibition Centre, where manufacturers from Linden and other parts of the country are showcasing their products.
This is part of the Linden Town Week observance, and it concluded yesterday. (GINA)
