A 61-YEAR-OLD truck driver employed with Sayhid Trucking Services has been transported from Kwakwani and is in custody at the Mackenzie Police Station where he may likely face charges for causing the death of 19-year-old Wesley Patoir.

According to reports, Carsdale Aaron of Bremsferd Ally Wismar-Linden was driving a heavy duty truck at Kurubuku Mines, which is located between Kwakwani and Aroaima when the wheels of his truck collided with the wheels of another parked heavy duty truck in which the young Patoir was sitting in the rim of one of the wheels.

Aaron related to the police that Patoir was on his cell phone and saw when the truck used to transport the overburden of the bauxite moved off and because of the size of the truck it was difficult for him to see what was happening so low. This was coupled with the narrow size of the road and its slushy condition as a result of the rainy weather.

One eyewitness told the Guyana Chronicle on Monday that it was approximately 3 pm when the accident occurred and Patoir was indeed sitting in the tire. “He was sitting in the tire of the truck that was broken down and the next truck coming down the hill and went close to that truck and the two tire jam together and he mash between the two tires and that caused his death,” the eye witness said.
