THREE men, armed with handguns on Sunday night swooped down on the business premises of Rafeek Kasmal of Belvedere, Corentyne, held the security guard at gun point, then bound him with duct tape before looting the premises. They stole $465, 000 in cash, a quantity of phone cards, cell phones, IPODS, MP3 players, a DVD player and colognes before escaping.
Police gave the name of the security guard on duty as Patrick Gomes.
Investigations are continuing.
Police are also investigating a shooting incident that occurred at about 01:00hr yesterday, at Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara, during which Raymond Mohamed, 36, of Herstelling, was shot and injured.
Police said Mohamed was shot in his shoulder by a licensed firearm- holder who claimed he found him on his premises, armed with a knife.
Raymond Mohamed has since been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
