THE body of 31-year-old GuySuCo employee, Vishanand Lall also called Vishal, who perished in the Stratsphey canal while on his way home from work last week Monday, is to be cremated today. Relatives confirmed that his body will leave the Jerrick’s Funeral home at 9:30 hrs for viewing at his parents’ home, Lot 8 Pay Office Street, Enterprise, East Coast Demerara. Viewing will be from 10:00 hrs to 12:30 hrs, and thence to the Good Hope Crematorium, for cremation at 13:00 hrs. (1.00 p.m.).
Vishal’s body was found floating in the Stratsphey Canal, on the East Coast Demerara, late Tuesday afternoon, after two days of intense searching by relatives and friends.
It was recovered a short distance from where he went under while swimming across with a working colleague round 17:30 hrs on Monday.
Lall perished after he experienced difficulty in the deep and efforts to save him, by his companion, Avo Singh, were unsuccessful.
Both men were employed as equipment operators at Enmore Sugar Estate, but because of the inclement weather and heavy water accumulation on the land, they were assigned duties as ‘Watchmen’ to see over the safety of their equipment which remained on the ground in the canefields.
Lall is survivied by wife, Reshanti and three-year-old daughter, Anooksha; his parents, Ano and Shanta Lall; siblings Vanessa and Videsh and other relatives.
