He said the participants were trained in basic camp craft skills, first aid, navigation map reading and river crossing and lectures were delivered by Guyana Defence Force (GDF) officers.

Alves said the purpose of the exercise was to give those involved an opportunity to develop leadership ‘knowhow’, so they can better manage and take care of those under their command on expeditions.

The unit leaders and two gold medal holders from Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) were in attendance, he said.

Alves also announced that Region Two will hold its qualifying expedition from July 14 through 16.
