PPP concerned about preparations for elections

THE People’s Progressive Party (PPP) said it is “very concerned at the fact that we are moving close to the period of ‘Claims and Objections’ but the (Guyana Elections) Commission is not meeting, due to lack of quorum”. The PPP, in a statement yesterday, pointed out that “one member of the Commission recommended by the opposition leader has not attended any meeting for the year”. The other two are often absent which leads to meetings not being held, the party said.

It noted that this can affect the preparatory work for the up-coming elections.

“The Party, therefore, urges that this short coming be corrected immediately and priority be given to the work of the Commission,” the PPP added.
