MAGISTRATE Adela Nagamootoo ordered Phillip Wayne, 39, to post $10,000 bail on a charge of assaulting his 50-year-old paramour, Anita Seetaram.
It was alleged, in Court, that the assault took place on February 6 when he was served the woman’s birthday meal.
Police said the couple shared a relationship for eight years but the virtual complainant ended it due to constant abuse.
She was celebrating her half century (age) when Wayne, who lives a few houses away, entered her yard and said he was hungry.
After being given some food and beverage, by Seetaram’s relative, the defendant pushed open her front door and dealt her several slaps while using a series of expletives, the magistrate was told.
In Court, however, he asked for time to post the surety, as he claimed to be broke but was sent outside, into Police custody and taken to prison, pending his April 26 trial.
