FIFTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Muntaz Kassim called Joe, of Cumberland, East Canje, has been charged, indictably, with a carnal knowledge offence alleged since 2007.
He was held on East Coast Demerara and Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, at New Amsterdam Court, also in Berbice, remanded him to prison yesterday, when the case was transferred to Reliance Court, Canje, for report on March 2.
Police Sergeant Godfrey Plater, prosecuting, said, between September 1 and November 30, 2007, the victim a 13-year-old next door neighbour of the accused, had gone to his home to asked for two empty bottles, in which to take drink to school.
The prosecutor said the prisoner was captured after his whereabouts were revealed to police by his relatives.
