GT&T Textmas…
THE Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) yesterday brought the curtain down on its Textmas Giveaways with three persons walking away with the big prizes while many others won varying amounts of cash and consolation prizes. The drawing took place at the site of the former Bureau of Statistics Building on Brickdam and High Streets, Georgetown.
The big winners are Seon Brown, who won himself a brand new Mazda RX 8 sports car; Valerie Fraser, who won a Jialing Falcon Scooter; and Vidyanand Sugrim who won for himself and partner a Caribbean vacation.
Asked which destination he wanted to go for the vacation, Sugrim enthusiastically shouted “Trinidad!”
A picture of calm, Brown said that he was surprised on learning that he was the winner of the car. He said too that he was excited though he did a great job of masking that excitement.
Apart from this, a number of persons won themselves cash prizes from $10,000 to $200,000. In a game show called One Love, these persons had to text the right answer to scrambled words, all connected to the service that GT&T provides. Some of the words were connectivity, twenty, significant, Beterverwagting and facilitate.
Earlier during the event, couples had to answer questions that they ought to have known the answers to, being in a relationship. Some of these questions had to do with favourite foods, favourite colours and pet peeves.
The prize-winners will formally receive their prizes at a ceremony to be held later this week.
During yesterday’s event, local songstress Tamika Marshall and Spida entertained the crowd, most of whom donned white t-shirts with the One Love logo emblazoned on them.
