Police investigating suicide, two other deaths

POLICE are investigating the deaths of three persons whose bodies were discovered at different places over the past three days. One of the deceased, Bridgemohan Singh, 35, of Patentia Sea Dam, West Bank Demerara, was hanging from a nylon rope in his shack.
Koker attendant Ramjeet Singh, an employee of Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo), told the Guyana Chronicle he smelled a pungent odour and on investigating its origin, stumbled upon the swollen and decomposing corpse of Singh alias ‘Black Boy’.
Singh’s mother, Rookmin Puran, 57, of Patentia Housing Scheme, said she had last seen him alive on Sunday last, when he went to her home for lunch.
The woman, who was inconsolable, added that Singh had also helped her with some household chores.

According to the ailing woman, her son had become depressed since his wife died in October 2010 when she, reportedly, fell into a pit latrine.
Puran admitted that her son had a drinking problem but could not say what led to him to take his own life.
She was shocked at his demise and was being comforted by neighbours who broke the news to her.
Police suspect that Singh may have committed suicide sometime on Monday as his remains were in an advanced state of decomposition.
Another deceased, Afzal Rahim called Roger, of Lot 65 Bella Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, was discovered by a neighbour about 09:00 hrs on Thursday.
It is suspected that he died about three days before and his decomposing
body bore a head wound.
Police investigations are also continuing into the circumstances under which Muniram Mohabir, 28, of Doorn Haag, Leguan Island, died.
His corpse was found along Enterprise Long Road, Leguan, about 20:30hrs on Wednesday and is at Lyken Funeral Home, in Georgetown, awaiting a post mortem examination.
