Murder accused makes Court appearance on four charges
WILLIAM Lyte, 41, of Stevedore Squatting Area, North Ruimveldt, who brutally chopped four persons, killing two of them and injuring the others last week, faced several charges before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday. The accused was charged with two murders and accused of two attempted murders. Particulars of the offences said, on October 26, at Charlestown, also in Georgetown, he murdered Cedric Blackman and Ann Chan-A-Koon and unlawfully and maliciously wounded Radesh Persaud and Sean De Souza with intent to kill them.
Lyte stood calmly in the dock as the accusations were read to him and responded correctly to questions from the magistrate.
Asked about his occupation, he said he does carpentry and joinery and would do odd jobs around the city.
Lyte was remanded to prison until December 6.
He, allegedly, ran berserk on the morning of October 26, at Russell and Howes Streets, Charlestown, and attacked the victims with a cutlass that he handed over when he surrendered to Police in the vicinity.
