Breast cancer awareness…

Avon Committee observing ‘wear a pink day’ today
AVON Community Help Fund will observe ‘wear a pink day’ today, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The observance is dedicated, specially, to raise awareness and give support to those affected, Avon Committee member, Ms. Melissa Toney said.
She disclosed that a number of private businesses have pledged to be supportive of the occasion and will be participating in the worthy cause. They include Medi Care Pharmacy, Bounty Supermarket, Avon Guyana Inc. and Nalini Hair Salon.
Toney urged all citizens to wear pink, the official colour of Breast Cancer, noting that the disease is the leading cause of death among women.
She also announced that the Committee will stage its fifth annual ‘walk for a cure’ on Saturday, October, 23.
