AKBAR Ali, of Lot 259 Industry, East Coast Demerara, was remanded to prison yesterday on charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, he pleaded not guilty to having a 12-gauge pump action shotgun and 17 matching cartridges, on October 15, without licences for either.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said Police, acting on information received, found the gun and ammunition in the defendant’s motor car.
Ali has to be back in Court on October 25.
