Strong men from Berbice, Essequibo, Demerera & Linden to collide October 31
THE strongest men in Guyana are in intense training ahead of this month end’s Senior National Championships of the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF).
Lifters from the Ancient County of Berbice including the Immamdeen brothers and junior sensation Vijay Rahim will be testing their strength levels against competition from the other areas.
Linden’s Colin ‘Mr Clean’ Chesney is expected to make a grand return to competition as will Mervin ‘Spongy’ Moses who had suffered a back injury prior to the Caribbean Championships which were hosted here earlier this year.
‘Big’ John Edwards, Guyana’s most decorated powerlifter at all levels is also expected to be taking the stage this month end and fans can look forward to some scintillating competition at the Critchlow Labour College from 10:00 h.
According to GAPF Public Relations Officer Mark Seymour, weigh-in will take place from 08:00 h to 10:00 h on October 31 and athletes who arrive one minute late will not be able to compete.
