One teacher remanded, other on station bail

After schoolchildren report…
THE school teacher implicated in the molestation of a 13-year-old male pupil, was released, Tuesday, on $30,000 station bail.
He was ordered to report to a Police station every day to assist with the ongoing investigations, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Headteacher of Saraswat Primary School, on East Bank Essequibo, Mr. Esau Dookie told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday that other teachers became suspicious, on Monday, when the alleged victim attended school with what appeared to be bite marks on his neck and a subsequent examination revealed that similar ones were on his stomach.
He was taken to Leonora Police Station, where he related what had transpired between him and the teacher, before the latter was arrested at his Met-en-Meerzorg home, also on West Coast Demerara and detained for 72 hours.
Dookie said the teachers, after realising what took place, quickly contacted the relevant authorities, in whose custody the lad remains.
Dookie said, once the case is active, it is advisable that the pupil be transferred to another school.
Presently, the teen lacks parental supervision, because his parents have neglected him and he was in the care of a relative.
Meanwhile, as a result of a similar report, another teacher was remanded to prison on a carnal knowledge charge yesterday.
Ronald Forde, 25, is alleged to have committed the offence on a female student at Fort Wellington Secondary School, West Coast Berbice.
The allegation against him is that he had sexual intercourse with the girl, knowing that she was under 18 years old.
The case will be called, again, on March 2.
