BHOLAWRAM Deo shot a gross score of 84 over 18 holes to finish with a net 69 and the championship trophy at the Harris Paints sponsored golf tournament last Saturday.
The 15 handicapper won the title after pipping Fazil Haniff from a count-back at the Lusignan Golf Course. Haniff, who has a handicap of 14, also finished with a net 69. Third place went to five-handicapper Mohanlall Dinnath (Santo), who finished with a gross score of 75. Esan Shamshudin won the closest to the pin award at the par-three number eighth hole, while Guyana Open champion Avenash Persaud won the best gross (73).
Deo, who was one of the most consistent players in 2010, went the entire year without a first place, despite finishing with four seconds and five thirds.
On Saturday, he parred six holes, including four on the back nine. A steady head down the stretch (with pars in the last two holes) won him the title.
