THE sixteen teams that will be part of the 2017 LIMACOL Round Robin knockout football tournament will know their fixtures today when the draw takes place at 15:00hrs at the Bransville Hotel.The tournament which will begin tomorrow and run until February 26t will be played at various venues.
The first-seed teams are Santos, Western Tigers, Milerock and Police while the second seeds are Winners Connection, Uitivlugt, Riddim Squad and Pouderoyen.
The third-seeded teams are Grove Hi Tech, Camptown, Eagles and Den Amstel while the fourth seeds are Amsterdam United, Ann’s Grove, Northern Rangers and Mahaica Determinators.
The tournament will feature trophies in excess of $2M and will be contested in a round-robin format initially, before the knockout phase commences.
Upon the conclusion of the group stage, the top two finishers will progress to the quarterfinal round.
The winning team will take home $500 000 and a trophy, while the second-, third- and fourth-placed teams will collect $250 000, $125 000 and $75 000 respectively.
Additionally, the winners of each group will receive $100 000, while the respective finishers will pocket $50 000, $30 000 and $20 000 apiece. (Stephan Sookram)
