Architect of Guyana’s economic collapse vying for President

A great man once said that those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. In Guyana, our politicians seem to have a very short memory and believe that we the people do too.

I read in the newspapers that former PNC Minister of Finance, Carl Greenidge, formally accepted the nomination to enter the contest for the party’s presidential candidate position. This is the same Carl Greenidge who presided over the economic collapse of the local economy decades ago.  This is the same Carl Greenidge who silently witnessed the excesses of a government gone rogue. This is the same Carl Greenidge who ran from Guyana after his party decimated the country.

Now, Greenidge presents himself as a changed man whose ‘vision and foresight’ will take Guyana to greater heights. This of course is, as my grandmother would say, poppycock. If this is the best the PNCR can do, it is no surprise that they are predicted to lose the elections by a landside.
