“Work hard”, “stay in school” were the two simple encouragements from President Bharrat Jagdeo to youths from Lusignan, Good Hope and Annandale who gathered for a Christmas luncheon in Lusignan yesterday.
The Head of State was accompanied by Presidential Advisor on Community Development, Odinga Lumumba, at the Lusignan Government school where he joined teachers in distributing meals to the children.
The luncheon is an annual feature of the community during the Christmas season for children from Lusignan and its environs. It also involved the distribution of toys.
Wednesday, the Head of State brought smiles to youths of the New Opportunity Corps when he paid a visit to the institution, assuring them that they are as valuable as any other children in Guyana.
There the children entertained him with cultural performances.
