ACTING Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday fined Rudolph Singh, giving him the alternative of spending time in jail after he appeared in court and pleaded guilty to an offence.
.
Singh, 48, of Lot 145 James and Victoria Streets, Albouystown, admitted that he had one 450-gallon plastic tank at Middleton Street, Campbellville that was reasonably suspected to be stolen or unlawfully obtained.
Singh told the Magistrate he obtained the tank from a trench near a cemetery close to Sheriff Street. When asked, he said he was fined last month in the same court for stealing a number of light bulbs.
Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, said Singh was seen rolling the tank down the road and did not tell Police this story when he was questioned.
Singh was fined $20,000 with the alternative of spending six months in prison
