Vehicles damaged in city collision

A TWO-VEHICLE collision happened at Vlissengen Road and Church Street, in Georgetown, yesterday afternoon. The driver of the mini-bus contracted to Kalibur Security, Oswald Dorway told the Guyana Chronicle he was proceeding along Vlissengen Road after clearing the traffic light at the junction with North Road when he saw the motor car turning out of Church Street into Vlissengen Road.
He said he applied brakes but the crash could not be avoided and, as a result, both vehicles were damaged.
Eyewitnesses said the mini-bus, BMM 5727 had the right of way but the motor car, PNN 139 turned onto Vlissengen Road from Church Street.
They said, had both drivers paused, the accident could have been avoided.
The minibus was carrying five other persons and one of them suffered cuts on the forehead and nose and was taken to get medical attention.
The car had several persons, including children, inside but none of them was injured in the mishap that occurred shortly after 14:00 hrs.
