A THIRTY-YEAR-OLD porter of Lodge Housing Scheme was slapped with charges of break and enter and larceny and escaping from police custody and appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Thursday.Aneri Dookhoo, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that between October 3 and October 7 at Merriman Mall, Bourda, he broke and entered the stall of Shondel Sealy and stole a quantity of hair and cosmetics valued $360,000.
In addition to that, he denied that on October 7 at Alberttown Police Station while being confined under police guard on an indictable charge of break and enter and larceny, he escaped from the said confinement.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Neville Jeffers, did not relate the facts in court but successfully objected to bail, citing the fact that the accused had given a different address to the police from the one he gave in court.
The chief magistrate ruled in the prosecution’s favour and remanded the unrepresented man until November 22, for statements.
