At Demerara Assizes…
JUSTICE Winston Patterson yesterday granted permission for the Prosecution, at its request, to lead fresh evidence, through the Police analyst, in the West
Bank Demerara murder case at the Demerara Assizes. Consequently, Superintendent Stephen Greaves will testify when the trial resumes on Monday.
The judge gave his approval after conducting a voir dire (trial within a trial) in which arguments were made by State Counsel Latchmie Rahamat and Defence
Counsel Vic Puran.
Rahamat made the application to have the new testimony after alleged oral and written confessions and the deposition of a missing eyewitness were rejected.
In the dock, Lakenauth Dial called Mohan is indicted for the unlawful killing of Farzan Khan. The Prosecution is seeking to prove that Khan was killed on Clay
Brick Road, Canal Number Two Polder, West Bank Demerara.
The incident occurred not far from a house where Khan had attended a wedding.
