TAXI driver Roland Judy, also called Vishal, of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, was shot and killed by bandits aback the Tuschen Housing Scheme early on Tuesday night.Sketchy reports are that the taxi driver had been hired by two men to take them to the back of the scheme; and while there, he was robbed of his day’s earnings and then shot. Judy reportedly sustained two gunshot wounds about his body. Rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival. The car was found abandoned in an area known as “the Blacka”, located at Block Eight, Phase Two Housing Scheme, Tuschen, EBE.
According to Divisional Commander Assistant Commissioner Leslie James, investigations are still ongoing in the matter. Police were up to late Tuesday night scouring the area for the killers, and have already questioned several taxi drivers who operate in front of the scheme.
Bandits have, over the years, targeted taxi drivers. This newspaper was informed that Judy would work his car at the head of the Tuschen Public Road.
