Hope one day GPL would provide a reasonable service

SO our concerned Government is providing so much more to Guyana Power and Light.

I say well, good! With the hope that one day sometime in our lives, we can get reasonable service from GPL, at least before I die. I have been hearing of the Christmas promises since the Burnhamite era, it has not changed. Is it a conspiracy theorist mentality in me or a stark reality to observe that at Christmas time, when the crime  maximises and people are careless, plus it is the time when there is a major need for more electricity that GPL woes suddenly is made more desperate.  I am asking is this a conspiracy or my mind’s activity as a theorist of conspiracy?  Or is it the stark reality of existence of the relationship between GPL, the government and its people.

For decades upon decades, always at Christmas time, suddenly the GPL/GEC begins to blackmail the government.  Last year blackouts were to end, I came to their support, others predicted in a few months time, the blackouts will revisit, again I defended GPL, but those persons were right.  GPL did revisit the people with constant blackouts not long after Christmas 2009.

Will this subvention of tax dollars and expansion help and for how long? Another few months, I look at the wall as I write and smile, yeah right!  A few nights back I had eight blackouts in Atlantic Gardens.

I pity the people of Guyana where GPL is concerned. Even those with standby generating sets, it is harsh, imagine those without.  So sad!  So many corrupt and deceitful people are within its fold.  But it does have its professional and good ones.  I still believe that the CEO, Mr. Bharrat Dindyal is a professional, who has to manage a sick, bulk of a monster, with crippling diseases, with poor vets.
