Motorcyclist in accident with cement-mixing truck

AN accident between a motor-cycle and a cement- mixing truck at the corner of    Norton and Haley Streets yesterday afternoon left a 40-year-old motorcyclist badly injured and warded at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The victim, Patrick Daniels, a barber of Sophia, is now nursing a broken left leg and head injuries; two fingers are severed and he also suffered abrasions about the face and other parts of the body.
Daniels’ sister-in-law, Ronako Lewis, who was at the hospital yesterday, recalled that around 4:30hrs she received a phone call informing her that Patrick was involved in an accident and she rushed there only to find him, prostrate on the road and bleeding. She said his motor cycle was trapped under the cement truck and the wheels were off.
At the time, the truck which appeared to have been travelling north along Haley Street, was positioned across the intersection.
On arrival at the hospital, Daniels was rushed for emergency surgery and is also likely to have a CT scan done to determine the extent of head injuries suffered.
Meanwhile, witnesses at the scene of the accident claimed that driver hastily exited the vehicle and fled without attempting to offer any assistance to the injured man.
