The Works Services Group/Sea Defence Division of the Ministry of Public Works and Communication is advising the public to take all necessary precautions during the spring tide period expected from today to September 27, 2010.
The heights of the tides for the dates mentioned are included in the following table:
Persons living in River View, Ruimveldt, Herstelling, Farm, Craig, Diamond and Friendship, on the East Bank Demerara are asked to take extra precautions during this period.
In Mahaica the Helena/Mosquito Hall areas are also cautioned.
In the West Coast and West Bank Demerara, the following areas are advised to take note of this warning:
Vive La Force, Catherina/Lorenzo, Vriesland Wales/Patentia, Sister’s Village, Belle Vue, Bagotville/La Grange, Schoonard/Good Fortuin, Pouderoyen/Versailles, Vreed-en-Hoop/Plastic City, W.C.D
In Leguan, Verurow Anna, Henrietta, Maryville are also asked to take note while in the East Coast Berbice area the following are asked to heed the advice: Goed Bananen Land, Friends, Brothers, Lansdale, Heatburn and Glasgow.
The government has released special funds to execute works in the affected areas, some of which have commenced and others are to commence shortly.
Areas that have not been mentioned are also expected to take precautions during the spring tide period. (GINA)
