No one arrested yet for Cummings Lodge murders

– Crime Chief denies report in another section of print media that a ‘well-known chutney singer’ had been held for questioning
“Maybe the reporter sat and imagined that and wrote about it.” – Seelall Persaud

CRIME Chief Seelall Persaud said yesterday that no one has been arrested yet as Police continue to investigate the Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara execution-style killing of five persons, including a woman and her young child.
He denied a report, in another section of the print media, that a well-known chutney singer had been held for questioning about the crime.

“Maybe the reporter sat and imagined that and wrote about it,” Assistant Commissioner Persaud posited.
Police Commissioner Henry Greene said Tuesday that, following the September 4 murders of the five, ballistics tests, so far, have not matched any of the guns used to any other crimes.
The deceased are Christopher Gordon alias ‘Bigga’, Sherwin Jerome called ‘Dice Head’, Fiona Singh, Christopher Jupiter and Steve Jupiter called ‘Steve Man’.
Greene said Police retrieved 22 empty casings of 7.62 x 39 ammunition, six 9mm empty casings, five 9mm warheads and one 7.62 x 39 warhead at the scene.
According to him, a 9mm weapon was used and the 7.62 x 39 casings and warhead indicated it was fired from an AK-47 or M 70 weapon, all new weapons.
He also said information received, so far, indicated that the crimes may be drug-related.
Greene said Gordon was deported from the United States in 2003 after being convicted of narcotics offences and Steve Jupiter is known to be involved in all sorts of criminal activities.
