Woman charged with wounding daughter’s lover remanded

CAROLYN Knights, 39, of Lot 68 William Street, Kitty, Georgetown was yesterday remanded to prison, by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, on a wounding charge. The clothes vendor, who informed that she had been to Court three times before on similar charges, pleaded not guilty to having, last August 23, in David Street, Kitty, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Mark Blackman.
Blackman, 30, of Lot 62 David Street, Kitty, with whom Knights’ daughter has a relationship, pleaded not guilty to wounding Knights on the same day.
Blackman claimed his girlfriend’s mother cut his throat with razor blade and the wound took six stitches.
Knights, in turn, alleged that Blackman cuffed her on one eye and she is still suffering from that injury.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for Knights but did not oppose the grant to Blackman, who was released on his own recognisance.
The two defendants have to be back in Court on September 29.
