THE referees that will officiate the games at the 2016 Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) U-16 Championships for Men and Women have been announced. Twelve referees, inclusive of 10 males and 2 females, come from nine countries across the FIBA Americas continental zone. They range in age from 29 to 49 (average age of 36.4) and have between two and eleven years of experience as FIBA referees (average of 6.8 years).
The nominations on the male side of the tournament include Referee Manager: Mr Geraldo Miguel Fontana (FIBA) and commissioners: Mr Frederick Brown (Bahamas), Mr Ian Lawson Yearwood (Cayman Islands).
The referees are Gilbert Bognot (U.S. Virgin Islands), Gregory Ferdinand Hamilton (Cayman Islands), Jennifer Nakeisha Joseph Hackett (Barbados), Jose Antonio De Maria Gomez (Panama), Kendell Christopher Henry (U.S Virgin Islands).
Also nominated were Lefred Gaitor (Bahamas), Michael McLawrence Peniston (St Vincent), Mr Nathanael Andy Charles (Trinidad & Tobago), Norval Alfanscio Young (British Virgin Islands), Rene Batson (Barbados), Sherwin William Henry (Guyana) and Terez Verona Conliffe (Bahamas).
On the female side: Referee Manager: Mr Geraldo Miguel Fontana (FIBA), commissioners: Mr Frederick Brown (Bahamas), Mr Ian Lawson Yearwood (Cayman Islands).
The referees remain the same from the male side with the exception of Rene Batson (Barbados)
The CBC U-16 Championships will take place from July 4 to 9 for Men in Georgetown, Guyana, while the Women’s event will be staged from July 12 to 16.
