TWO men, facing a $6M breaking and entering and larceny charge, yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson and were remanded to prison. Richard Jairam called ‘Bakewell’, 27, of Lot 472 Grove Housing Scheme, and Mervin Small, 26, of Lot 593 Diamond, both East Bank Demerara addresses, were not required to plead to the joint charge.
It is alleged that, on August 16 last, at Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, they broke and entered the dwelling house of Denesh Singh and stole a quantity of jewellery including wedding bands, a DVD player, and other articles, all valued $6,265,000.
Jairam, a clothes vendor, and Small, a taxi driver, were remanded to prison until September 22 when they will return at Providence court.
