Gittens scores fastest goal, Adams nets hat-trick for Silver Bullets

RAWLE ‘Boney’ Gittens netted the fastest goal so far in the Linden Guinness Greatest of de Streets football competition being staged during the Linden Town Week, as Jermaine and Son’s Silver Bullets riddled South Stars 4-0, with Robin Adams getting the second hat-trick of the tournament for the winners.Gittens began the game with the opening burst of a 24 second-strike and this was followed by the three running goals from Adams coming in the 12th, 13th and 19th minutes of the game.
A number of sweeping wins were seen on this enthralling second night of the competition, which continued on Saturday at the Mackenzie Car Park.
Retrieve Unknowns began the evening’s match-ups with a 3-0 beating of the goal-less Goal Getters, as Carlton McCalmont who secured in the 5th minute, Akeem Singh in the 7th and 11th minutes, when Shaquille Alexander netted for the winners.
Then Deportees seemed at home as they shoved their way past Rough and Rugged 5-0 behind goals from Trevor Phillips in the 3rd and 13th minutes, Jason Swaving (16th), Sherlock Phillips (17th) and Roger Hutson in the 19th minute.
That game was followed with Wisrock edging past Highlife 1-0 as the lone goal of the game was scored in the 4th minute by Mark McLean.
The fourth game ended with hard Knocks defeating Avengers 3-1, through goals by Randy Small in the 4th and 13th minutes and Trenton Lashley in the 5th for the winners, while the lone reply for Avengers was off the boot of Earl Samuels in the 12th minute.
Game five also ended with a 3-1 score for magic stars versus Attackers as Joel Mckinnon netted in the 2nd and 7th minutes, while Kester Randolph added the other goal in the 17th minute for the victors. For Attackers Reyon Venture scored in the 5th minute.
In the penultimate game of the evening, Team 25 cut loose against Cutting Clear with a polished 5-1 score as goals were registered off the boot of Ryan Gravesande, who got a double in the 3rd and 5th minutes, Collie Hercules in the 6th, Kwesi Johnson in the 13th and Kennard Simon in the 17th minute of the game.
The final game ended 1-0 for the Amelia’s Ward Russians, who defeated Rippling Rullets 1-0 which was scored by Terrence Aaron in the 14th minute. (Joe Chapman)
