-Former national players Lugard Mohan and Abdulla Hamid chosen

WITH the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) U16 championships fast approaching, the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) has selected the male and female teams’ coaches. Former national players Lugard Mohan and Abdulla Hamid have been selected to head- coach both the male and female teams, respectively. According to a statement by the GABF, they take this opportunity to identify Mr. Lugard Mohan as the head coach for the U16 young men and Mr. Abdullah ‘Zico’ Hamid as the head coach for the U16 young women as Guyana prepares for the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) U16 Championships, scheduled to be hosted in Guyana from July 2-17, 2016,”.
The GABF also identified other coaches who will make up the coaching staff to prepare the National U16 teams for the tournament.
The other coaches chosen are Ann Gordon, Mark Agard, Kevin Joseph, Kirk Fraser, Junior Hercules, Kevin Bonnet, Wayne Hinds, Willon Cameron, Julian Haynes and Dane Kendall.
The GABF has also enlisted USA-based Coaching Consultant, Larry Davis.
Davis will be visiting Guyana to share his expertise with the Guyanese coaches with the hope to better prepare them for the tournament.
In a comment to Chronicle Sport , Lugard said “It’s always a privilege representing your country.”He then continued, “I am a teacher as well as a coach and working with young student athletes is my calling and seeing them development is both my payment and accomplishment.”
