DIRECTOR/SECRETARY of Linden Legal Aid Centre, Ms. Joan Ward-Mars yesterday issued an appeal for public support to the four children of jailed manslaughter convict Kurt Wong.
He was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment on Monday, for the March 5, 2005 unlawful killing of their mother, Rhonda Wong.
Ward-Mars, who was the leading Defence Counsel at the prisoner’s trial, highlighted the plight of the siblings who have lost the care of both parents due to domestic violence crime.
She said the centre is seeking to establish a supportive group for the children and appealed to interested persons to help meet the challenge.
The centre is located in the top flat of Christianburg Magistrate’s Court building, on Burnham Drive, Linden and the telephone number is 442-1751.
“The welfare of the four children of tender years is a concern not only for the State, as parens patriae, but also for the community,” Ward-Mars said. (George Barclay)
