A mother of two was killed and her partner seriously injured during an accident on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown Tuesday night.Dead is 29-year-old Shauna Rice of 651 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown. Her reputed husband Steve Feidtkou is now a patient at the Georgetown Hospital in a serious condition. Reports are that the woman and her reputed husband were riding along Mandela Avenue, Georgetown when a car slammed the motorcycle, killing her.

Rice was the pillion rider on the motorcycle which Fiedtkou. Relatives said the couple was at the time searching for their son who was taken for a drive by another relative unknowing to the family. According to family members they are unsure of what exactly happened. A cousin of the dead woman told the Guyana Chronicle that the couple had contacted a number of persons regarding her son but never thought that particular relative would have taken him away because of the distance between their respective homes. Rice, a Librarian attached to the South Ruimveldt Library has left to mourn her two sons Jine Fiedtkou, 7 and 6-month-old Steve Fiedtkou, her mother Ann Garraway, father Oswald Rice, and siblings Otis, Shaun and Kizzy.
