THIRTY-EIGHT-year-old sub- contractor Denzel Braithwaite was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore after he was charged with possession of narcotics. The East Ruimveldt resident denied the charge, which stated that on April 13, 2016, he had in his possession 112 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
The facts presented to the court by the police prosecutor stated that on the day in question, the police carried out an exercise in East Ruimveldt and the drugs were found. The defendant was told of the allegation and he admitted that the drugs were his.
The prosecutor told the court that other persons were in the house at the time of the search and they were also arrested. When the accused admitted that the drugs belonged to him, the others were released.
Braithwaite returns to court on April, 29, 2016.
