City committees installed

THE various committees of the Georgetown Mayor and City Council (M&CC) were on Monday put in place at the first statutory meeting of the new Council.

Town Clerk Royston King proposed the names of several new committees that will cater for the environment, parks, recreational facilities and transportation, women’s health and the family, and the homeless and destitute.

The Terms of Reference, relative to these new areas, will however first have to be prepared so that they can be reviewed by councillors.

A motion was moved for each committee to comprise seven persons and the chairpersons for each will be identified at the level of the committee.

For the City Works’ Committee, those nominated were Phillip Smith, Carolyn Caesar, Gregory Fraser, Alfred Mentore, Lionel Jaikarran, Akeem Peters and Lyndon Hilliman.

Those on the Social Development Committee are Monica Thomas, Tameshwar Budhoo, Linda Gomes-Haley, Sherod Duncan, Sophia Whyte, Desiree Liverpool, and Malcolm Ferreira.

The Information Technology Committee is now made up of Akeem Peters, Malcolm Ferreira, Sherod Duncan, James Samuels, Linda Gomes-Haley, Salima Bacchus-Hinds and Tameshwar Budhoo.

Councillors nominated Bishram Kuppen, Andrea Marks, Sherod Duncan, Salima Bacchus-Hinds, Welton Clarke, Carlyle Goring, and Yvonne Ferguson to serve on the Legal Affairs Security Committee.

The Markets’ Public Health Committee now has serving on it Lionel Jaikarran, Sherod Duncan, Bishram Kuppen, Trichria Richards, Malcolm Ferreira, Andrea Marks, and Yvonne Ferguson.

Mayor Patricia Chase-Green, Junior Garrett, Tameshwar Budhoo, Carlyle Goring, Carolyn Caesar, Oscar Clarke and Akeem Peters are the new names on the International Relations Committee.

The Investment and Development Committee is made up of Junior Garrett, Mayor Patricia Chase-Green, James Samuels, Phillip Smith, Trichria Richards, Ivelaw Henry and Bishram Kuppen.

Malcolm Ferreira, Monica Thomas, Welton Clarke, Salima Bacchus-Hinds, Oscar Clarke, Tameshwar Budhoo, and Noelle Chow-Chee are the names nominated on the Human Resources Management Committee.

Deputy Mayor Sherod Duncan is now the M&CC’s representative on the Central Housing and Planning Authority Board, while Councillor Phillip Smith, also a member of the City Works Committee, is the Council’s representative on the Fire Advisory Board.
