A 26-YEAR OLD pork knocker was yesterday fined $15,000 and ordered to complete 100 days of community service by Magistrate Dylan Bess after he admitted to the possession of narcotics.Stefan Barrows admitted to the charge which stated that on April 3, 2016 at Charlestown he had in his possession two grams of cannabis.
According to the facts presented by the police prosecutor, on the day in question the police was on a road block when the defendant along with others were stopped and searched.
During the search it was alleged that the drug was found in Barrows’ pocket, wrapped in a red and white bag.
The defendant was told of the suspicion and he was taken to the Brickdam Police Station where the drug tested positive for cannabis.
Barrow who was unrepresented told the court that he had lost his appetite. As a result he decided to use the drug to open his appetite.
Considering his age and the fact that he did not waste the court’s time, Magistrate Bess handed down the sentence. Barrow is expected to complete his service on or before the April 30, 2016 or by default three months’ imprisonment.
