POLICE are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 23:30h on Saturday at the Garden of Eden Public Road, EBD, during which two overseas based Guyanese men and two females were attacked and robbed by three men armed with handguns. Investigations revealed that Carl Ramroop, 29 years; and Suresh Deonanand, 38 years, both of London, UK, accompanied by Rosanna Padmore, 20 and a 13-year-old female student of Republic Park, EBD, were travelling in a motor vehicle which slowed down as it approached the area where roadwork is being undertaken. As the vehicle slowed down another motor car overtook them and then blocked their path.
The three armed men exited the motor vehicle and held up the four victims who were robbed of a quantity of jewellery, a wrist watch, personal documents, US$800 currency and 750 pounds sterling after which the men rejoined their motor vehicle and escaped.
During the robbery Carl Ramroop and Suresh Deonanand resisted their attackers, one of whom discharged a round which grazed the left side head of Carl Ramroop while Suresh Deonanand was assaulted about his body.
They were treated at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre and sent away.
